The tree had Dutch Elm disease and had to be taken down. The crane operator is no slouch, either and the crane was using the windshield wipers. This is fascinating to watch, reportedly the largest hardwood tree in Washington State, taken down in a residential neighbourhood.
The guy in the tree ........ he’s cool. There is no question that he does not have a dull chain. The timber from this tree is being dried for three years before being made into furniture.

A great example of total faith in the equipment you're using and the people you're working with.

... and I love the 'Stihl selfie' at 5:06 :-D

That's ace, as well as the agiilty and skill of the lumberjacks and the team work, I enjoyed seeing the Seattle skyline. I spent several months working in Seattle in 2000

Great vid - as it's now a couple of years old I wonder if the wood is about ready.... my Mother lives in Kirkland just outside Seattle, heh it would have been cool to get some if this wood.

That brings a few memories back. 1st job when I left school I had was working for a tree surgeons in Lancashire. Taking down many of the elm trees that were dying. We had a Vermeer branch muncher as well. They're a beast of a machine.

I've seen this a few times, it's still amazing to watch. that's a group of guys who know their tools and trust the people they are working with.
makes me dropping the height of of our pear tree seem like childs play (which it was, but the neighbours still got worried)

Very professional, now go do it in the dark when it's blowing a gale

I had a neighbour once who had a tree that needed to be pruned. So he put his ladder up against a branch and started sawing away.

Guess which side?

And no, I'm not making it up.

Great stuff. I always enjoy watching skilled people at work.
