I mentioned previously that I've been studying Eli Avisera DVD's. I can actually see a difference in my turning, the more I practice. I think the sharpening makes a huge difference as well, particularly with the aid of cap'n Eddie style sharpening jig.
I turned this little 'shroom today from a yew branch. This is it straight off the lathe with no sanding.
I still need to reverse chuck it to finish off the cap, then sand & finish it.
I also turned this rattle over the weekend. It is beech, and the finish is olive oil.
This, when finished, will be a replacement handle for a bread knife. The wood, I have been reliably informed, is red ash.
This will be finished in oil, or perhaps paste wax when I get 'round to making it.
