hi Bt
if you can travel over to mirfield the base for birstall turning club we now have a large selection of blanks available for purchase for non members ,you can also have a free day pass for the club which is well kitted out with 17 lathes ,2 bandsaws, planer thicknesser etc ,but the main thing is the friendly members
regards dave

I second the tip for Birstall Woodturners but other than that I go to Snainton Nr. Scarborough. It's a bit further but the choice is fantastic and you can also be tempted by a huge selection of tools and machinery.
combine it with a trip to the coast and you're sorted.

Also John Boddy's in Boroughbridge. I call in whenever I'm passing as they have a good selection of long spindle lengths. Also bowl blanks as well but I've never bought them.
Last time I was in they were selling off pink ivory logs that they've had for ages - £3 each! One of the ones I bought was originally over £30

I miss-remembered - the pink ivory logs were originally more expensive than I remembered. The largest should have been £127 and the smallest was over £40. Both on sale for £3 each :)
