I bought my dad one of these for his 80th birthday:
His is about 8" x 6" in 1" perspex, and has a hardwood stand with a strip of blue LEDs hidden in it. It looks absolutely stunning.
Mr. Hickman (who makes them) chose it for us (dad used to be a physics teacher and lab equipment designer), and yes, it came across from Chicago. There's a video on his site of the irradiation process (they buy time on a medical/university accelerator to bombard the perspex blocks). Serious fun!
Wish I could afford one for me!
