visiting this area for a couple of days, any big tool shops I can go window shopping in?

not really. DB Keighley might be worth a look, but I wouldn't go out of your way to go there. I struggle to find local tool shops selling anything useful around here- plenty of places selling silverline but that is about it.

if you were further afield, there is Snainton, which is towards Scarborough. I have not been, but have seen them at the shows.

If you wanted things to be sent somewhere and then collect them in one go, I am in Leeds and as long as the dates work out am happy to receive a few parcels.

Try Aone at Brighouse or Wrayways at Harrogate. Not a world away from Leeds for the former and Harrogate is about equal from each.
D B Keighley are mostly suppliers of machinery and worth a visit if that's what you're after.

Thanks. Can't travel too far from Leeds as we are with friends transport. Will consult my friend to see how Keighley is. M after a bandsaw

Just come back from 3 days in York - can't help with tool shops but there are some cracking pubs and restaurants.

Bob, just to clarify, D B Keighley are at Stanningley, Leeds. Not in Keighley the town which is about 20 miles away.
Brighouse is not far from my side ( west) of Leeds. But if you have to cross Leeds that can add a half hour to your journey. Well worth the effort none the less.

Just noticed you are after a bandsaw... D B Keighley could be your best bet. If, on your visit to Leeds you do the tourist thing and visit Scarborough I would advice you give Snainton Wood Supplies a visit. Just off the A170. They have Record, Charnwood and Jet machinery.

Thanks all, but I had a lot less time than I thought I would have. We visited friends and had to do their tourist thing.
So I spent 4 hours in the train museum in York, 3 hours walking around the shops afterwards, and 4 hours walking around leeds the next day. The females were happy, but me, not so much.
A bright note (for me) is I made a point of coming back via robin hood airport and saw the Vulcan for the second time in my life (50 years ago).
Got the mug and pint of beer to prove it. (g).
Back in Somerset now, need to get time at axminster again to get serious over their bandsaw. Still haven't found any bandsaw that does NOT have serious faults, just trying to get one with faults I can fix fairly easily.
