I have recently acquired a Tyme Avon wood Lathe that is in good condition but currently in its component parts awaiting a stand to mount it upon. I am 6 foot tall and of normal build and would like to know what is or how to obtain the correct working high above the floor for the spindle center or tool rest.

When ready to use and I want to start on turning an uneven piece of tree wood, how long would the chisel handle need to be?

What is the ideal gap between the work and the chisel rest for safe working?

At what angle should the chisel be held in relation to the work.

Any advice would be helpful.
