I'm curious, one has come up, cheap with a load of accesories... I'm sorely tempted, working on the logic that if I buy the saw, it makes a stronger argument for putting up a shed for it.

However, i've heard bad things about modern Dewalt RAS's and given that I'm buying it for the versitility, I dont want a saw that will need fettling every time I cut a bevel or mitre, and i certainly dont want the arm being deflected during ripping (I know that it has its risks, and is reccomended against by the BWF; but being keenly aware of the pitfalls, I'm confident I can do so safely)

As an addendum, Is a catching finger and riving knife available for it / part of the original equipment?

I have one of those and find it easy to use and well made, cant speak about any accessories as I just have the basic set up.
do tell what accessories you might be getting please, curious to know what is available.

Regards

Mark

All I can say for certain is a number of dado sets, the seller is a bit vague (i assume he wasn't the purchaser/user)... I'm trying to find out if a riving knife and catching finger is available currently and i'm curious to know if its compatible with moulding heads as the old Dewalts and the roundarm Wadkin BRA's were.

Encouraging to know you're happy with yours, probably be worth a punt (and the accompanying "You Bought What Now!") :)

I also have the dewalt 720 and am more than happy with it ( though I don't mess about with it for mitre cuts and I only tried ripping on it once, made me very nervous ). The riving knife and fingers are built in to the blade guard and look like a regular feature but I brought it second hand so am not sure.

I have the Elu version of the same saw and have been very happy with it. I also only use mine for cross cutting and have never ripped with it or cut mitres. It does come with the anti kickback fingers and the riving knife built in to the blade guard as standard by the way. I used to use a dado set on mine too but i now have another RAS just for this use. HTH. Oh almost forgot to mention that I think they are a little underpowered for ripping as I have tried it on another RAS.

Sounds like it will do what I need of it, I guess we'll see if I can get the price right...

IU had one of these for quite some time and it did everything that I wanted it to, no problems whatsoever. I bought it from one of Yandles shows in Martock. Hope this helps a bit.

Someone more decisive nabbed it before me... There will however always be another RAS at a bargain price, their general malignment seems to keep used prices low.
