keeping it simple, any good?

Yes, they're OK. An old model now, but you can still get spare blades from Axminster. Like most PTs adjusting the blades after sharpening is a pain and there's no short cut with newer jigs as they don't fit on the small diameter cutter block.

Chip/dust extraction is a bit primitive by modern standards, but a little DIY sorts it out. You will need a chip extractor if you expect to use is for any moderate quantity of timber.

Once set up correctly it will deliver straight square timber.
