Hi chaps, I'm new to woodworking and I'm just building up my workshop. I've bought a Kity 636 planer off eBay but it has come off the combi kit and does not have a motor. I've sourced a 1.5hp motor but I need to attach it to the flat bed pulley belt.
The Kity Planer is designed to spins at 7000 t/min. My challenge now is to work out the diameter of flat bed pulley. Just wondering if anyone on this forum could help be out here.

Is your Motor 2 or 4 pole? 2850 and 1425 RPM respectively.

Then it's just a case of adjusting the Pulley size ratios to multiply up the motor RPM to be near your spindle RPM.

Thank you Chaz, on reflection I should bought a 2 pole motor as the spindle RPM = 7000.

The flat bed pulley on the spindle is 50mm, which means my motor pulley would need to be 350mm which is far too big.
