Hello all,
I recently got hold of a good deal on a Kity 1637 and have been spending the last few days tarting it up a little as it had a very rusty cutter block etc. It's now planing beautifully and I'm very pleased with the machine, but there are two outstanding issues/ questions I'd like some advice on.
1) The rollers on the thicknesser are rusty and sometimes it marks the workpiece. I've had a go at cleaning them without removing them but it's tricky. Is removing the rollers to clean them a particularly difficult job? There's no mention of how to do it in the instructions.
2) I noted when inspecting the mechanism that one of the belts looks smaller than it should be given the size of the pulley/ pulley. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? It doesn't seem to be having an effect - just doesn't look right! (Belt on the right of the below image).
