K10 chuck is stuck

if you look at the pulley you should see a grub screw. Loosen the grub screw and move the pulley nearer on the shaft to the headstock, thus allowing the spring loaded bit to engage.
I can see the crub screws 2 of them but the pullys will not move by hand, can I tap them in more with a wooden mallet?

P.S. The top two lines are in blue....
 
Jaymar , I undone the grub screws, hit the pulleys with a block of wood and it moved about 1/8 of an inch, tried my indexer and it worked.
I have put the nut on then the chuck and all is well but will try and get a thinner nut or cut this one down thinner if I can.
I do like this site, it gets me out of a lot of trouble.
You all need medals just from me.
