Nothing missed. This is the other forum that split off a year or so ago (with Alf etc) and now they have changed their forum software and are improving the site.

If you save the logo as a PNG with alpha channel (partial) transparency, you won't get the nasty white outline that's caused by the GIF, which only has full transparency, and has to be pre-composited.

You lost Jason after the first five words

No really! - I get it
Although I must add that I have found that IE doesn't handle transparency correctly with PNG images anyways - but it should 'dull down' the halo. Although the other way - render the image with the background colour of the banner area may work out better :) More cross browser compatibility :)

OK - I admit - my day job is with I.T. :)

I forgot to add, (and without wanting to start a 'we're better because war' - may I ask why the split?

Cheers
Wayne.

Just been over to have a look and not sure I'm missing too much - though the for sale and wanted sections are handy. That chap Head Clansman seems a right a*se, full of opinions, fairly closed mind and can't type for toffee. Head something but not clansman, unless clansman is scottish speak for pillock

That was true for IE6, but even Microsoft eventually got it right.

It can be checked here:

http://www.schaik.com/pngsuite/

I agree that pre-compositing with the RIGHT background would be "better" than the current one, but the background in this case is a vignette (or fade) which makes things trickier.

Alpha is the only proper solution.

The fraggle from the droolopter is smargled in the latest edition of Aardvark....but maybe it's a design feature?
