I'm building a workbench for my 15 yr old grandson. It's based on the Bosch Workbench plans found on the forum.

My question is, the plans call for the two long stretchers that run between the front legs (same for the rear legs) to be through M&T joints, glued but then with wedges driven in on the exposed ends. Conversely, the two top stretchers that run between the front and rear frames are in bridle joints (i.e. an open ended M&T) glued and then pegged.

Can I not glue and peg all the joints, or is there a reason for wedging some and not others that I've overlooked?

Either will be fine. In theory the wedges are stronger but both would be more than strong enough for that.
