I have just built a couple of router tables and was wondering if anyone has ever used a “Jiffy Jack” as a lift. at £10 it seems to answer a lot of questions

Thanks

A car jack and a plunge router are often used when building a router table.
The scissor (car) variant is a bit of an overkill, so I imagine a smaller lift would also work adequately.

A Router Raiser is a far better purchase. This is the cheapest true router lift available.

Used in association with a Muscle Chuck (to enable above table changes) ...

Looks great... except it is 10 times the price of the original suggestion. I think the solution is actually to use a router that already has a fine depth adjuster built in. I use an Erbauer one - cheap, robust enough for what I need and the adjuster is very easy to access from the front of the table (I don't need to bend down). I can also change the bits from above.
