I started this and another one as Christmas presents......for the last but one Christmas, despite a rush in December just gone, I've only just found time to get to them and add finishing touches. I rand out of red sticky back velour stuff for the other one so didn't take any pictures. The finish is Rustins Plastic coating.

very nice. is it maple, burr walnut and cherry?

I have just started one in a very very light shade of london plane- it is almost maple white in colour. How was the plastic coating- it looks like it has retained the colour of the light timber without yellowing it?

Thanks guys, it's beech with walnut burr and birds-eye maple. It's for the wife, the other is for my eldest daughter,I'll post pics when it's done.

Very well done. Those hinges are a bit of a pig to fit neatly, so that definitely deserves a round of applause!
