I bought some Iroko this week. 300mm x 50mm sawn boards. It was £27 + vat a meter. With these being 26mm thick (~half) but 600 wide, they would seem to be significantly costlier than buying boards new.

(its to rebuild the hand rails and supports for a bridge over my pond, the ash rotted away, but the floor boards and main supports - japanese style - have lasted 20 years no problem).

+1 complete rip off
They will be almost certainly random width edge jointed boards.
As Ian says new timber will be cheaper and wider boards.

That is a ridiculous price, ex school science lab tops regularly turn up at Diss Auctions the whole lot would sell for about £50 - NOT per metre

I PM'd him asking why the high price and this is his reply:

Dear rafaelzetter,

if you can buy solid iroko board and i mean solid board not little peaces stuck together then let me know and i will buy them and you should do the same iroko is now becoming very hard to find in the uk and has been for the last 10 years

- sirjme

I have no idea one way or the other - I originally posted the ebay in case anyone was interested

I bought iroko on line, from SL hardwoods (Croydon). I got two boards, one 300mm wide and one 400mm wide. 4.2m long, 55mm thick.
