I did say for children - it's a bit of a given when you're an experienced adult.
 
It's not a bookcase, it's an artistic feature that holds books, they are lookers not necessarily readers. The 'book density' is not important apart from in the overall aesthetic.
Having said that, IMHO, it looks crap. Poorly made, poorly thought out.
 
My dad once put a book stall in a bring and buy sale. He was approached by a young lady who wanted two feet of books. He was horrified that someone wanted books only for decoration and refused to sell her any. He still gets annoyed about it to this day.
 
A new head of a library (can't say which one, large university in central Nottingham) did suggest the books be put in alphabetical order!
