Hello all,

I'd like to ask the advice of the learned Ladies and Gentlemen, i'm rebuilding my lean-to utility on the side of the house, it's timber framed with a flat roof.

I'm having the flat roof redone in a weeks time, i was wondering what sort of insulation would be best to use in the timber framing.

I was considering using polystyrene boards cut down to fit in the cavity and Kingspan boards in the roof, with a layer of the reflective backed bubble wrap underneath the plaster board.

Does anyone else have any better ideas?

Many thanks

Richie.

Hi Richie

I'm not an expert but guess you came across this?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are better wall insulation materials than polystyrene and that you need to make sure that you have ventilation up the wall cavity otherwise moisture from inside the lean-to moves through the internal wall covering and then condenses somewhere inside the cavity at the dew-point.

Roger
