I don't know, the mouth and blade look OK. I reckon it could clean up alright. Although I wouldn't have paid that sort of money for a doer-upper myself.
 
The plane looks to be ether a Norris or a Mathieson, so I would imagine the lever cap and screw would fetch more than £50.
I should have kept an eye on it as at that price I would have bought it just to pass on the spares to Bill carter. Just ask him how much he has to pay for a quality lever cap like that. If my memory serves me right I think the last ones he bought were about £250 a shot :)
 
I was going to make a thread about that plane lol.
I don't think the plane is a user as to Lapp it flat you would be removing so much stock.
As Richard says the lever cap and iron are where the bargain is.
If you sell for parts don't clean leave that to the buyer.
If you do restore that it would make a great WIP.
So? What you going to do.

£39 + £5.50 for a rather nice pierced lever cap and a handy custom fitted repair plate in case of any further damage to any precious tools ...
