Yes I find that annoying. It basically means I don't use inches at all, because decimal inches is like reading hebrew to me.
 
At my age? How old do you think I am? I never learned metric nor had I seen it till moving to the UK. I've had to learn since being here but let me tell you, not happily.
 
As a retired engineer IB I was trained in imperial, but now happily use which ever is most convenient, but is metric better?
Thous are much easier to work in for fine tolerances than subdivisions of mills, and why oh why do architects etc show mile long dimensions in millimeters?
By now a lot of posters will no from my bleats that I am replacing a kitchen roof.
OSB for the deck, foil backed plaster board for the ceiling, but can some one tell me why I have to buy OSB3 in imperial sizes and the plaster board is smaller?!!!

Its bloody awkward when you combine imperial and metric on a carpentry job.
The plan is imperial, the chisels and machinery are metric these days.

(I never voted for the common market. :wink: )
 
Yeah! I've got to make all new kitchen and bathroom units for that very reason DW.

They are only 100mm long the Aldi ones are 150mm and cheaper.

Aldi - well my local one anyway - are doing the 6" digital calipers again for 8.99, and as I have several (that I have no idea where they are) I've bought another 2.

Hopefully keep them long enough to stick one in the wokshop and 1 in the garage. Based on previous form - probably "lose" them by Xmas.

But no biscuit jointers...

I have one of 'em. They are, emmm..........ok-ish. They need a fair bit of tweeking and adjusting to get them right. They're a bit loose and rattly. But, if you take away those negative points I suppose its, well.......ok :oops:

You should try and pop into a couple of Aldis to see if they have any in stock.

My local Aldi have the biscuit jointer and different sized biscuits reduced.
