Looking at replacing the front anti-roll bar rubber bushes [on a VW Polo 2007].

Would it be usual for the ID of the new bushes to about 2mm smaller than the bar OD where the bushes fit?

Yes they are normaly a tight fit (never really measured it), I put a smear of LM grease/vasaline in the bushes before fitting as this prevents corrosion which will cause the bushes to wear prematurly as well as stoping and squeeks.

I'm sure I've been told that vasaline causes rubber to perish? Maybe other grease would be better?

I find washing up liquid works well when assembling rubber components
