All the new kit came this morning so I thought I would assemble the UJK compact router table from Axy first. All was going well despite the terrible instructions and I got the actual table assembled. A cross bar with bolts was missing that goes across one end and holds the mitre fence and other bits when not in use. I then fixed the cast iron table top and then found there was no table insert plate to hold the router. I rang Axy only to be told that it is an optional extra and the aly one is £71. I could not believe it. Its like buying a car and you have to pay extra for the engine. I very nearly bought the Trend table as that DOES come complete with loads of extra bits.

I was really annoyed. Anyway. I rang Axy back after choosing the insert and he knocked 20% off and no postage charge and he sorted out the missing cross member on the table for me as well. I will get there eventually.

Too much of that going on these days, you think its a bargain at a good price, but when you get it, the things missing what should be standard parts. So in the end you get charged a high price for the bits you need and its not a bargain any more, sometimes it ends up you paying more than the competitor's prices.

Hi Geoff
Just had a look at their site and it really isn't clear that the insert is not included.
The only thing in the pictures that they say is not included is the dust box so it's very deceptive.
Personally I would have taken some screenshots and contacted trading standards as the item is clearly misrepresented and it's an offence to not supply what people think they are getting without printing a caveat.
When I was looking at the makita axy had pictures on their site of accessories which were not included. They also put the price up £20 between it going in my basket on the Sunday and checking out on the Monday - but they still left the special offer banner on the page. I just bought it elsewhere.
I must admit, now I have had my saw refund I may just go elsewhere (I have been pretty impressed by d&m tools). Having to argue why I shouldn't lose 20% of the purchase price on an item that was supplied faulty wasn't really the service I expected from them.
Anyway I hope you get it sorted soon so you can put us all to further shame!
Regards,
Phil

I had to stop for lunch after I assembled the table and then it was time to assemble the fence, which is quite complex. According to the assemble instructions there are 8 parts missing from the fence. I have sent Axy a strong e-mail with photos of how it looks so far. There were no spacers provided which would allow me to offset the outfeed side of the fence when using the table as a jointer to clean up the edges of boards etc. So far its cost me close to £600 for a compact router table. I could have bought any number of different tables for that money, the table is still far from complete and I am waiting to see what Axy are going to do about it. I have had good service from Axy in the past and I feel that what has happened is unusual for them but it is certainly not acceptable so as I said, wait and see what they come up with. Phil, if the worst comes to the worst I will take photos to trading standards as I did not get what one sees in the photo. I did get the router at the special offer price.

Just had a look in the Axminster book as I was intrigued reading about the router table. All the pictures clearly show a gaping hole where the insert goes and in the description it says 'range of insert options available' -not supplied.
Personally i'd have found an off cut of worktop and maybe splashed the cash on a router lift of some sort
