I bought a second hand Skil HD77 wormdrive a couple of years ago and I use it most days. It's phenomenally powerful - last week I ripped some 200 year old oak with a rather blunt 24-tooth blade (more suited for crosscutting) and the motor hardly slowed at all. Try that with a conventional saw.
US tools run perfectly well on a 110V transformer.
