Haven't done mortise and tenon locks before simply because Don't have the equipment , but I saw today a table made like this that the apron is used as a tenon itself without cutting anything, but there is a mortise hole in the table leg where the apron is just slided in.
So was wondering whats the easiest/fastest way to make a mortise hole like that the right way?
Probably the fastest way is with the router? however Don't have such a machine.

you could make the mortice with a chisel, but these look like they have been made with a router.

If you do not have a router, I would use a pair of chunky dowels.

the disadvantage of this way is if there is any mistake with the hole, you will see the error. If you do a standard tenon, the shoulders of the joint disguise minor errors on the mortice. In reality it isn't that much more work for one off piece- a batch run maybe is.

I would presume that is the haunch and the tenon is longer.

It isnt a very good example, usually the tenon would be thinner than the rails so a shoulder is created.

Tables are usually made with either a bare faced tenon or offset so the mortice is machined where there is more meat in the leg.

There are numerous ways to cut such a joint, hand tools, table saw, bandsaw, drill or drill press, router, router table, woodrat etc. If you have any of these, there is most likely a simple jig you could make to accurately machine an m&t joint.

What tools do you have? That would help us to point you in the right direction.
A mortice that is not covered by a shoulder is going to show no matter how careful you are, I reckon.

was rather easy , had to make a template from scrap wood, and than just cut with jigsaw what I had and hammer a bit with chisel , half a minute and job done, however yes... there isnt any shoulder which covers the imperfections :(
