how do i create a glossy black finish

hi.
i have a piece of furniture that has been sanded back to bare wood, how do i acheive a shiney black durable finish to the wood?

a good plastic type paint would give you the shine that you want.

have you thought about hi gloss sprays from halfords or b&q
a dry coat of primer/ undercoat, then a number of coats of
the gloss black. finally use a product like a paste polish.
