hegner single speed scroll saw

Hi ,I have a Hegner single speed scroll saw , the table is perfectly square to the blade, but on cutting 2inch pine to make scroll saw boxes

The cuts are not square which makes it extremely difficult to release the centre of the box, I have tried a 5,7, and 12 blade with same results

First guess with pine is that the blade is trying to follow the soft grain ... possibly?

Is the waste clearing away? It may be clogging the blade.

2'' is pretty thick, go for the widest blade available, Even to the extent of pulling the pins out of a pinned blade and using that as it would have a higher beam strength.

Thanks Naznomad , I reduced the thickness of the stock and its much better

I have cut 2 inch pine on the scroll saw and have experinced the same problem. To overcome this as much as possible you need as much tension on the blade as you can get. Also cover the top with clear packaging tape, this will reduce the friction, speed up the process and lubricate the blade. The main reason for the slight taper is pushing the wood to hard, let the blade cut the wood at it's own pace and be especially careful when going round a bend. I have found the FD ultra reverse blades to be best and using a number 7, maybe even a 9 blade.
