Hardwood Dowel and or Rounder

Hi,

I would like to know where to buy hardwood dowel from size 2mm to approx 10mm in at least 30mm lengths.

The dowel needs to be a tight straight grain as I will be making knitting needles- no sniggering :wink:

I know about Euromodels who sell lime and walnut, is there any body who sells oak, birch etc?

Or

how to obtain a rounder to make fine, straight dowel on a wood lathe?

Thank you very much for the link, I did try to do a search on dowel but I couldn't see the information I needed, so I must of missed that one.

However the links are not working, so I can't see what was actually done :?
