Bloody hell. That reminds you how dangerous our work/hobby is. The last photo where you can see the exact line of the saw is scary.

I liked the correction

"This article was amended on 15 May 2015, to correct a reference to Mr Jones cutting batons. He was cutting battens."

This is about the 4th time I've read about one of these accidents in as many months, but no-one ever tells us how it's done.

Anyone a clue?

I have a mitre saw and just can't see how to hold something and then cut my hand off, especially that far up the arm.

Am I doing something wrong?

The last one I heard of (in America) the guy was feeding with his left hand and operating the saw with his right and doing repeated cuts from one length of timber. He mistimed the "feed right, move left hand back, pull down the saw" and did "feed right, pull down saw, pick left hand up from the floor"

Its got to be holding the work on the right side of the blade with the left hand, I can't see any other way.

Might pop in to the workshop and try a few test cuts  :D

Pete
