Just getting back to an unfinished project.
I need to make and fit the hanging bits for the mirrors that I made.
Will use some light weight chain.
Mirror weighs about 5 kg’s.
What would be used on the wood side. Brackets, screws etc.?
I have space as follows:-
30mm wide by 20mm thick.
Any suggestions would be welcome. :D :D :D

Hi Jaco
For mirrors and the like, I use what I think is called a French Cleat.

Take a piece of timber the same length as the width of your mirror, and 3 or 4" wide. Rip it into two with your blade at 30 degrees or so. Screw one half to the wall, bevel up and to the wall, the mating half is screwed to the back of the mirror. Screw a kicker the same thickness to the bottom of the mirror.

The mirror now just hangs on the cleat. Nothng to see, and the mirror stands a little way off the wall, giving it a more 3D appearance, casting better shadows etc.

If you make one of the holes in the wall-piece oversize and use a penny washer under the screw head, you even have some adjustment for level.

Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve. Will mount the one like that. Other has to go to far away son and thought chain, screws etc. might be better.
