Anyone in the UK selling glue bottles / dispensers as seen at three mins twenty-six seconds into this video? I've seen them a few times on youtube, but never in a Brit-vid.

It's called a "Glu-Bot". You can get them direct from the US via eBay, these people claim to sell them but have no stock, Isaac Lord has them, or you could spend an obscene amount of money on one from Amazon. There's undoubtedly other vendors too.

Obscene indeed. Many thanks

I read on here (?) someone recommended decanting big glue bottles into a washing up soap bottle. Tried it. Works perfectly. Pour in as you need, use the little bottle, when you finish give the bottle a little squeeze and it clears the mouth. Job done. Spend the money you saved on something you actually want. Sorry if I'm trying to teach anyone to suck eggs.

I also saw a guy using a little plastic wallpaper roller to spread glue on some youtube channel. Works too. Quick wipe with a rag, throw it on the floor while you do your glue up. Reusable after and costs pennies.

Cheers!
Chris

Edit. Cant remember the soap brand but has a much smaller mouth than fairy type so it's pretty accurate.

I use a bottle from a tomato ketchup. Stands either way up and hose the rubber anti drip thing.
Still fancy a glubot though :)

I use an empty polyurethane bottle like this-
http://www.toolstation.com/m/part.html?p=93568
Use all the glue first, then leave the lid off for a few days so the moisture in the air cures the rest. The remaining glue then comes out in one big lump. The point is small enough to run in a groove or insert in a dowel hole or you can cut the tip off more if you want it coming out quicker. I've got a few smaller titebond bottles and it always seems more of a faff using them compare to my normal pva which I keep in the pu bottle.

I thought about using a ketchup bottle, the kind you find in fish'n'chip shops or burger bars so ordered one from ebay before posting my query on here. Three weeks later it still hasn't turned up.

But seeing as it was almost xmas I decided to go for a Glu-Bot and a Babe-Bot (the kind that wasn't going to get me slapped!) and ordered it from here? https://www.fastcap.com/estore/pc/viewp ... roduct=123 - they arrived within a week and I could have bought three of each for the price they are on amazon. Had a chance to try them out today. Both very easy to fill (NB remember to remove the spare cap and nozzle from inside the Babe-Bot BEFORE adding glue!) and very easy to use. To be honest, I can make a mess in a sterile, empty room and do tend to get glue everywhere but I was able to apply a neat bead where I wanted it including into mortices with a minimum of mess. A simple thing but I feel in time they're going to save a fair bit of glue and an enormous amount of time.

$10.20 or roughly £7, about the same as the Glu-Bot ($6.60) and Babe-Bot ($4.40) combined, whole lot just over £14 which also kept it below the threshold for import tax, VAT and RM handling fees which can easily make an apparently good price no better or worse than buying in the UK.

An example of crazy price comparisons? Those two items would be £11.60 from Toolovation in the UK, out of stock so can't check delivery, but would be surprised if it is less than £2.40. So chances are it is cheaper to import yourself rather than go to a UK supplier that is importing them in bulk.

Terry.

Hi,

I bought a Glu-bot and a Baby-bot direct from Rockler's US website. Website can be set to UK pounds and they accept payment in Sterling. Also take PayPal. No import changes on small orders either. Can't remember exactly what I paid, but it was very cheap. Reasonably fast delivery. I often buy from the States now.

Cheers
Simon.
