Hi

I need to get some drawer runners tomorrow but this will be the first time I've used them

I want to fit them on the sides of the drawers, so am wondering if they need to fit the full depth of drawer or can they overhang (at the back) or be too short ?

And also, are they pretty standard as far as the gap between carcass and drawer side - I haven't cut my sides to length yet

Regards

+1 for Buller slides. The drawer box needs to be 1"/25mm narrower than the distance between the side cheeks of the housing.
Depending on the thickness of the drawer box sides, you can recess the slide in by say 6mm to take the side load off the fixing screws.

Thanks

The recess makes sense - I'll do that

May have to use the site Mick added as the stuff I wanted to get locally isn't available in the length I want

You could also try Ironmongery Direct, they may be a little cheaper.

Nice one - thanks

I've seen this site posted on here before but forgot to add to my favourites - done now

Just checked my local store and I had looked at my cutting list for sizes and was trying to find runners to fit one of the drawer widths - what a heejit

Going to http://bestfurniture4you.co.uk as they aren't far from me and I don't have to wait for posting

My question was more about fitting than sourcing but it looks like I just need to find the closest length and the gap needed between drawer side and cabinet is not really an issue anymore as I am going to follow Myfordman's advice to route a groove to recess the runner as a couple of these drawers need to carry 30+kg

Thanks again
