hi dermot
the answer is YES it is possible to make one for yourself, but again as with so many things in life, you need scroller frank, he wired my footswitch up.
like i said before, every needs a Frank around them.8)

Just thought my wife has an old sowing machine it might have a foot switch will this work if I wire it into the main cable of the scroll saw ???
I will not do anything till I find out more on this.

Dermot.

Heavy duty footswitch unit from Maplin, buy or make a box. wire in a lead with a plug. Wire in from the other side of the switch a lead with a socket. Plug box into mains. Plug saw into socket coming off lead from box. The swith interupts the current. On?off. Probably totally illegal these days. I have one on my lathe, one on the pillar drill and one on the scroll saw. I have a bought one on the router as the current demand was too high for the Maplin foot switch.

If this is too lightweight, get a HD rated switch from another source. http://www.999isecurity.com/dpdt-foot-s ... -dpdt.html

Hello again Dermot ,
Hope you got the photo's i sent ,!!!!!!!!
As for the foot switch , no the sewing machine one won't work ,
if your saw has a n.v.r.switch on it , it will not work as is ,
the n.v .r switch will have to be replaced with a proper on / off switch
first , then you can use a foot switch ,. Don't know were to buy one from , as i made mine (and Steves) from parts from mapplins---------- it is easy to make and not at all complicated

Thanks Mike I will have a look at the links you posted.
Frank No I have not received any Email I have also checked my Spam but nothing Not sure what a nvr switch is  It switches on/off with a normal red/green switch???

Dermot.

Wooooops , sorry about the photos ,i will try again
As for the NVR , yes it is the green and red buttons on /off.
it will not let you use a foot switch , as it needs resetting every time, and
if you use a foot switch it is redundant ,as when you take your foot off the footswitch the saw stops ,until you put your foot on the switch again.*

*providing you use a non latching switch
