i've recently joined a local club and the decision has been made to buy my first lathe.
Space is a real consideration for me so i've got to go for a lathe that will go on the benchtop. i've looked around and the only one that seems to be available with the specs I want i.e 24", variable speed, swivel head, is the DVR Nova which is priced way beyond what Im prepared to spend.
Does anyone know of a lathe similar in spec etc to the above but at a more affordable price?
Many thanks.

No.Swivel head and variable speed aren't cheap.
Have you looked at Record Power range? - they seem to have had a few offers on recently.
And how big is your budget ?

As Chas says the Axminster Performs arn't bad. I've got the Nu-Tool version of their CCL, Knocked this lotout on it. I/ve got it mounted on a benchalthough it did come with legs.
