Expoy filled coffee table

So about a year ago, i bought so wood from Chrispy and this is what i turned it into....

There are some before and after ! (although i dont have the before of the legs). The legs are mitred with splines and there is a 5 mm shadow gap.....Welcome thoughts.

Not really, i follow Manor wood on youtube as he does a fair amount of this work. Happy to help with any questions.

The expoy is GlassCast 50 Clear Epoxy Casting Resin. This was my first time using it, so had some troubles but will do it again soon.

The finish is a hard wax oil. Then poilshed all over with a plastic polish (car stuff really)

I like the top very much. I think if it was me I would have raised the lower frame about a 100mm to give the overall a bit more balance.

I do love those clear epoxy and wood tables, though I couldn't nail down why if you paid me. It's like the river tables with the epoxy running down the middle, you could stare at them for ages and just lose yourself in the details. This is more like a lake table but it's still got the same effect

I have two small pieces of Yew that i plan to make a river table from and then cut into small tables (possibly)...So i do a WIP for that.

Worked it out. These are after sanded to 240 grit. Will take it up to 2000 and then break out he polishing compound on the resin. The pigment is a metallic black to create the smokey effect.

Osmo PolyX. I have used it to finish Elm in the past and it really highlights the difference in grain across the wood. I’ll be applying finish before polish, so I’ll take some pictures later in the week.

thanks, are you only using that on the word or on the expoy as well? polishing the whole table?

I’ll Coat the wood the protect it, then polish the scratches out of the epoxy with cutting compound and then probably give the whole thing a coat of PolyX.
