While mucking about trying to set up the blade, I was rather annoyed with the blade guard binding. Took the blade off and operated the guard. It seemed to be sticking on the plastic lever where the metal locking catch sits between two positioning guides. The guides were a little proud, so judiciously sanded them back. This seemed to have worked, but not for long. Checked again and found that when the guard was stuck, by gently pushing on the long metal "safety" lever it closed. Got some petroleum jelly and put a small blob in the fork on the plastic operating lever that pushes on the metal lever. Vwala, no more binding. Probably didn't have needed to do the sanding!.
