Ha ha cheers. The result of many an hour on here and google. Initial tests are positive although the finer dust needs some further filtration, I'm considering a water filter.

That's a really great build Billy - love it! I did something similar a while ago but with 5 bottles. I pretty much followed the design as per http://www.cnczone.com/forums/woodworki ... ector.html, a couple of pics of my efforts:

The main problem was it frequently got clogged at the bottle necks and subsequently would quickly "back up" If I wasn't paying attention, I was only using those cheap flavoured water bottles which had an opening of about an inch only so I should have expected it happen. I have since switched to a compact Thien-type design however I'm interested to know how your version copes with larger woodchips and whether you've had any problems like I did.

Hi all thanks for the replies:) Alan, initially the necks would block but now its on an air tight bucket i've seen no real issues. Since I took these photos I have mounted the motor directly on the cyclone which has made a vast improvement in suction particularly down the line. do you mind if i ask what you used for the smaller pipes within the cyclone? I was hoping to do this project from scraps i had lying around but had to in the end buy some 40mm plastic tube.

Bio diesel filters?!! Im on it :D Thanks for the tip.

I can see this being one of those projects that is never quite finished lol
