I am sure you are all familiar with the Dust commander so for anyone who hasn't got one and may be thinking about it.

I got one recently and hooked it up between my Dewalt sliding mitre saw and Bosch vacum.

I purchased a 60 litre plastic container off Amazon and mounted the cyclone atop it.

I opened it up today and found it was about 90% full. I emptied it and then had a look in the Bosch.

Just about 2 handfuls of dust in there and some of that may have been there before the commander was fitted.

So I is happy with its performance.

What is the power of your vacuum ? What size hoses ? Is your Dust Commander the DLX version ? I am asking because this is on my 2015 TODO list

The vacum is a Bosch GAS 1200 L you can probably find the spec online. The hose from the vacum to the commander is 40mm od and the hose from the commander to the saw is 50 mm od.

I had originally planned to put in a big kick ass extractor and pipe it round three machines, but I picked up the bosch for little money and then a couple of Lidl specials, so each machine has a dedicated system. Only one commander so far and it is the DLX version. I ordered it from ebay and it was delivered from Amazon.

Makes me wonder.

I have one setup with a Einhell 1500w shop vac and works a treat, everything goes into the tub and the vac stays virtually dust free.
I made some adaptors for the cyclone out of wood scraps and mounted the lot on a trolley, I also fitted a 10mtr of pipe and it reaches every tool in the workshop. The next thing I need is an airfilter and considered making one after watching youtube videos but Record seem to do some that aren't mega expensive so will investigate those before deciding what to do next.
Cheers

will take some this weekend and post them, even with the long hose the vac seems to have full sucking power thanks to the cyclone so worth every penny. I do a lot of sanding and cannot remember how long it takes to fill the tub and like i said no need to touch the vac.
My trolley was an old metal computer desk on castors from a carboot for a couple of quid lol it has lower shelf for the vac and top shelf for the tub and cyclone.
Cheers
Brian

some useful info emerging here, thanks. I have a Draper 1400W vacuum and two 3m hoses. I am yet to get a cyclone but trying to figure out where to site the cyclone/drop box and vacuum. I was wondering how much the effectiveness would be reduced with long hoses and a cyclone.
