I know this is not the place for none wood work talk but it gets a lot of traffic. Mods please move if not happy.

My local authority wishes to close the Durham Light Infantry museum to save money. The local people as you can imagine are not happy so have started a group and campaign to try and stop the closure.
The museum is the home of the DLI with lots of ex service mens ashes being scattered amongst the grounds.
The land the museum sits on is prime land in the city centre and the closure has more to do with future development than cost cutting.
The council plan to have a temporary exhibition and the rest of the exhibits will be going into storage.
The group have raised money to take the battle to the council.

I'll be joining the page. My father was in the DLI, as was my grandfather and I think what they are doing is disgraceful.

As a county, Durham has one of the largest pots of money saved up. They simply don't need the extra from this.
