How does one go about drying freshly cut tree rounds without them splitting ?
Neighbor felled a tree that i might want to use for projects, specifically slice it into 1-2 inch thick rounds to use for side table tops and such ?
Diameter is 30-50cm.

Planking is a no go, neither drying the whole trunk - don't have that much money or time.

I’ve only ever planked timber, but would suggest cutting it up into sensible lengths (50-100cm?), sealing the cuts with diluted PVA or proprietary end-sealer, and storing it off the ground, under cover, and out of direct sunlight.

You could also try cutting a few rounds near to size, sealing as above and seeing what they do.

Forget what it's called, I used to buy white (looked like white glue), basically to block up the
pores in the end grain whilst drying. with that done, just stack 'em with airflow and wait?
