I am making some big drawers for under work tops in my "workshop". I have made some before using full extension ball bearing slides, bought from Eurofit, and they are brilliant.
Just looking at the spec for these things , it says " load rating reduces 80% if base mounting" . ( 500mm slides are £7.49 pr with free uk delivery )

What exactly does base mounting mean ?

Think this means if laid flat under the draw instead on it's edge on the side of the draw.

What they are saying is that IF you were to fit them to the base of a drawer, the load specification would be reduced.
I've not seen a ball slide that could not be base fitted if you wanted to.

I've looked online an I think matched your description and price plus the 80% comment and of course these can be base fitted.

I understand the recuction percentage, I don't understand the term base fitted.
The slides mount on the sides of the drawer, are they saying that if the slide is mounted on the bottom of the side.............that means "base mounted" ?

If that is the cast then :
a) Why would you do it ?
b) I cannot see why that should reduce the load capacity

Take this one http://www.eurofitdirect.co.uk/46mm-bal ... ng-slides/ it's shown as it would normaly be used but take the same runner and turn it through 90 degrees and then mount it under a draw "base mounted" . I have done this in the past on a very large draw that I was not wholly confident the two side mounted runners were strong enough so used to more runners laid flat underneath the draw to add more strength. Hope that makes sense.

Those runners can also be used for mounting to sliding trays. In such cases you attach them to the bottom of the tray with a couple of little clips that fit on to the slider hardware. Are you sure that's not what's being referenced with the term "base mounted"?

Beau: Profuse appologies  I never considered that you could use the slides like that.
Thanks for the other responses.............I don't know what to say
