Does anybody know whether this company is still going- nowhere seems to have stock, and the website contains the most limited information possible...

http://www.douglastool.com/

the products look good from what info is available.

any other recommendations for a decent framing hammer that will last for years to come- any merit in going for titanium?

Hello Marcros,

I cant comment on the Douglas but a few years ago I bought a Stiletto Titanium framing hammer, it came as a kit with a nail puller, milled head etc.

I imported it from the States as I could not find the kit over here so it got a bit expensive with the import duty.

I have used Estwings over the years (broken 3 now) but only use it on 2ed fix now as the Stiletto is bloody great for roofing etc.

I only ever use 4" nails on cut roofing and it is a pleasure to drive them in, much better on your arm when using it all week!

As I use it a lot I have convinced myself that the cost was worth it + the nail bar with its "Dimple" is a great idea - it has helped me out quite a few times, the other features are also worth having - the magnet for extra reach and the side nail puller both work well.

Cheers, Merlin

I really like my Douglas hammer, sits well in the hand & I much prefer a timber handle to rubber grip.

But then again I'm bound to say this
