I've managed to blow my new(old) surface planer's DOL starter whilst wiring it for a 16amp plug and now I need to find a replacement. Only thing is I have no idea where to start. I know roughly what I'm after but I cannot find the exact right thing unless I'm missing something. I'm not the most experienced with these and I know there are a couple people here who've got decades of experience over me so I was hoping someone could enlighten me.

I'm assuming I'm trying to find one that has somewhere around a 11-16amp current but I cannot seem to find one, I can find ones that are 9-14amp or 13-18amp so would the 13-18amp work fine or am I missing something really obvious?

It's running a 1.5KW single phase motor if that helps.

I’d be surprised if you had actually burnt it out. There is often a manual reset somewhere that just needs pushing / sliding when an over current is detected. The white button looks to be it.

If you have cooked it you want a DOL with over current protector that has a range that encapsulates the Full Load Current (FLC) of the Motor. This is given on the ratings plate attached to the motor. Dont just get a contractor.

I’ve bought a few from this seller on eBay that come prewired and include the overload relay. (253457491632).

As far as I can see there isn't a hard reset on it, the white button is just a blank space where the "Start" and "Stop/Reset" used to be labeled.

I assume that 12-18amp switch you linked to should work fine for this motor?

Yes, that will work, just adjust the setting on the current limiting to c12A.
