David Busch is regarded as one of the best for reviews on all DSLR camera's. I used to be a pro photographer and have read a few of his books.

Try youtube, it's free and there are always tutorials etc on there for specific cameras 
The best way to know a camera is get out and use it and try different settings to see what they do. Even if you just photograph stuff in the garden / around the house etc it is all experience and it doesn't really cost you anything to experiment.
