cut & polish........oxymoron??

I was buying turning consumables the other day and noticed this on the counter and bought on a whim

I used to do this technique a lot but came a cropper with some Oak; stupid error and I knew better :roll:

Yes - you can be told or read it scores of times but you only actually need to get caught out once and you don't do it again.

Use it as a burnishing treatment after sanding sealer, immediately if the latter's cellulose, if it's acrylic or lacquer make sure it's cured first. Use sparingly and buff up the finish with a clean paper or cloth. Extra protection can be added by applying carnauba or microcrystalline wax.

And using 0000 wire wool with wax in cold conditions isn’t the cleverest thing to do either!
If you want a fail safe method of imbedding bits of wire wool in a wax layer then this is it.
