I'm just about to order one of these tools. I want to make rings with a diameter of about 6-7mm. Does the 1/4 inch (6mm) tool make 6mm rings? I can find one reference on the internet that says it makes 4mm rings. Can anyone confirm this?

I might need the 3/8 inch tool, instead...

Hi Paul.

The ring tool size is the maximum ring the tool can make, IF YOU ARE CAREFUL! Usually what happens is you slip to the side a fraction so you round off to suit the smaller dia.

But as I said if you are careful as you move the tool around the ring you can get the max. size. As with all things it just takes practice.

Try this guy I've just bought two sets off him. Good prices, although you have to make your own handles.
