Counter height?

Can anyone tell me the standard counter height for a shop? I thought I saw something giving these sort of dimensions on the internet but can't find it now. Thanks.

Don't know about a shop, but I use 910mm for kitchens if its any help.

Possibly useful, this also quotes prices for counters.

I think there has been some crossed wires due to my description on this I am afraid. I should have stated that the type of counter I am building is more like a reception counter in say a hotel foyer. I have built it to 44" or 112cm which is about elbow height and seems about correct for this type of furniture. The project is actually being used as part of an office/reception for truck drivers. and will have a lift up flap and gate at one side. It is more similar to a public bar but without the foot rail around the bottom. (Although I have been asked when I am installing the pumps) Anyway I will post some pics once it is complete.
