Hi
I have been asked to make some corbels, they have to have four flutes on the front concave face. Any idea how to use a powered router to do this, i:e what sort of jig to make to control the plunge?

Laminating would be a way to do it. Cut your shapes using a template so they are all the same, run a bearing guided cove bit down each edge but only the inner edge of the two outside pieces, then glue together. The two cove moulds would form a flute when joined together.

What a load of old corbels :D

Laminating is the way to go.

there are bead cutters that work on the side so would be ideal in a router.

You may want to temporary screw together or biscuit etc, sand until all perfectly flush, then take apart and route in cove.
