Hi All,
Does anyone know what I can buy CMT router tooling ( metric shank sizes) in the uk other than Scott & Sargent, plenty of Imperial size dealers Thanks Matthew

OK, I'll bite, why metric?

Apart from 8mm, which is a handy step up from 1/4" (6.35mm), almost every router available here either has imperial collets supplied or as accessories. And there is a lot of CMT about in 1/2".

I only have one CMT cutter (multi-profile), and it's very good, but there are other good brands out there. Does it have to be CMT?

CMT list all their agents on the Italian website. Scott & Sargent have an excellent catalogue with the cutters and drill bits in.
Titman and KWO have lots of metric cutters as well

Hi Shrubby and \Eric

I am looking to produce this "Maloof" joint

http://lumberjocks.com/projects/25005

and need these two cutters

http://scosarg.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=935.001.11
http://scosarg.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=938.380.11

but I only have two routers both of which have a max collet size of 8mm and I did not really want to go down to a 1/4" as you say ( 6.35mm)

Eric I have just gone to their web site,it looks good so will need to have a good read, thanks for the details, they are a name from my past but had forgotten about them ( like a lot of things these days)

Regards
Matthew

I produce that joint with Wealden cutters but they are half inch shank and I would not want to reduce that by much. I noticed Whiteside now advertise a set of Maloof joint cutters but I think being from USA they will be half inch as well.

PAC1 thanks for your input, looking at your Avatar you obviously make Rocking chairs and the chair looks like Hal Taylor design,is that the design you use?

Matthew, Yes that is a Hal Taylor design. I bought the templates and the original book. It took about 120 hours to make that one.
