My new workshop floor covering is 22mm flooring grade T&G chipboard approx 20sq meters.

I would like to treat it, not for aesthetic reasons but to protect it against the ingress of dirt, staining etc.

My main consideration is drying times so I do not really want to go down the road of several coats of oil based type paints with the inevitable drying times.

Any suggestions please of a quick drying finish

Regards,

Our downstairs floor at home has been finished with polyurethane floor paint for nearly 10 years and it still looks good.

It gets cleaned with a steam mop and comes up well.

The stuff I used was oil based but I'm sure there will be a water based one..

Virtually every house I went into in NZ had chipboard flooring, and as far as I was told all the newer ones were finished with water based varnish. Quick drying, and very little odour. What's not to like? :)
