I am looking at buying the Chestnut buffing system.

What I would like to know is with the components of the kit alone. how deep and small can you buff the inside of an item before you are unable to get the mops into it.

Hope this makes sense

The large mops in the kit are 200mm dia. Therefore basics say bowl opening needs to be 200mm or greater.
In actual fact you can get into a smaller bowl with mops slowed down so that they flex into the shape without grabbing, but internal lips are a risk factor on the grabbing front if you try much below 150mm opening.

Does Terry still do the dome mops Chas,i still need the C type #-o

Hi Paul, I brought some Chestnut Dome mops last year including the C mop so I am sure that they will still be available

Vic

Three different diameters now as far as I know Paul, don't know actual rated diameters.

TERRY !!!

Just trying to catch up on this month's invoicing! There are far too many shows this month requiring time away from the office!

Yep, we now have three different Dome Buff sizes in all three grades. The size of each buff, at the widest part, is:

Small - 60mm
Medium - 100mm
Large - 150mm

That's from memory, I'm pretty sure I'm right but I'll check it in the warehouse tomorrow.

Right... back to the invoicing... 6 of those at that, 5 of them at something else....

Interesting, I had no idea that there were large dome mops, they are on the shopping list for sure!

Cheers Vic :D
I did order the three sizes from Terry a few years ago now and arranged to meet Terry at one of the local shows where he was demoing, think it was Paskins show, but Terry only brought the two sizes A and B so i said i will get the other on line which i never did and haven't to this day,as i only used the two the other day for the first time,so i now want the C one. :D

Thank you for the information.

I have looked at the mops as well. I am surprised that there is not three of the mops in the kit as this would cover all buffing requirements(I would say the small size)

Now there is an opportunity

standard buffing kit(as is)
standard kit+1 (with 3 small mops)
standard kit+2 (with 3 medium mops)
standard kit+3 (with 3 large mops)
Super kit (with all mops)

OK I come up with some silly ideas

Suggest that additional packaging and reluctance of distributors to have ever increasing higher cost options with associated smaller demand would make that a non starter.

Don't think many starting out on the buffing circus would jump in with a whole system purchase.

Big problem with most of the smaller 'buffing mops' is that they are constructed from soft cotton or synthetic fibres.

I've found them OK for final polishing on metal and wood finishes with burnishing cream but not very efficient at coarser abrading with Tripoli and White Diamond dressings as they don't have the fibre stiffness of the linen and linen blend mops.
